Estimator- Land Remediation

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as Senior Estimator/ Estimator, based in the Midlands or Leeds area.  

Salary: Up to £70,000 (dependent on experience) + car and benefits

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Enabling Works Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our land remediation projects by providing accurate cost estimates, helping us win contracts, and contributing to the successful execution of our projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the financial success and environmental sustainability of our remediation initiatives.

The successful candidate will be required to prepare tenders/quotes in accordance with information received, liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to facilitate preparation of tender costs and will review estimates prepared by others to ensure they are correct prior to submission.

The Estimator will attend operation meetings to discuss the works tendered and awarded and will facilitate, handing over project information to the operational team to help to ensure jobs are delivered within budget and are profitable.

Role responsibilities

  1. Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for enabling works projects, including bulk excavation, soil and groundwater treatment, waste disposal, site restoration, ground stabilisation, civil engineering, and groundworks based on project specifications and site assessments.
  2. Bid Proposal: Collaborate with the bid team to develop comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and compliance with client requirements.
  3. Site Assessment: Conduct site visits and assessments to gather essential information for accurate estimations, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
  4. Material and Resource Procurement: Collaborate with procurement teams to obtain quotes for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
  5. Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients, to raise tender queries, provide clear and transparent explanations of cost estimates, budget updates, and any necessary revisions.
  6. Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant regulations related to regeneration of brownfield land and ensure that all estimations and projects comply with environmental and safety standards.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and efficiency improvements in estimating processes and project execution.

 About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and/or proven experience as an estimator in the land remediation or environmental construction sector.
  • Familiarity with NEC/JCT contracts and tendering portals.
  • Able to read technical drawings, perform take-offs and build cost plans.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  •  Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety protocols is a plus.
  •  Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are advantageous.
