Rhodar's Charity Golf Day Tees up Funds for the Leeds Community Foundation

Rhodar's annual charity golf day, which took place today, Friday 22nd June, is set to raise funds for the Leeds Community Foundation's ‘Leeds 11 Fund'. Staff from the Leeds based asbestos removal specialist and its 60 guests, has been driving awareness for the Leeds Community Foundation at the DeVere Oulton Hall, Leeds, with a day of golfing and fundraising auctions and raffles.

More than £1,000 is expected to be raised from today's event with money going towards the ‘Leeds 11 Fund', set up to give grants to small voluntary and community based projects in the Leeds 11 postcode area. Schemes like the Canopy Housing Project, which provides painting and decorating, plastering and joinery training to young people to help them gain qualifications and employment in the construction industry.

Funds are being raised through a raffle and auction of signed Colin Montgomery golf memorabilia and a 1966 England World Cup shirt signed by no less than nine of the original team including the late Alan Ball.

Richard Collins, sales and marketing director at Rhodar, comments: “We were very keen to support the Leeds Community Foundation's ‘Leeds 11 Fund' and the charity golf day seemed like a perfect way for staff and clients to get involved in a local cause that will benefit the community where our Head Office is based, in the Leeds 11 postcode area.”

The Leeds Community Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity aimed at improving the quality of life of local people.

Charlotte Downey, business development manager for the Leeds Community Foundation, said: “We were delighted that Rhodar were so keen to get involved in the ‘Leeds 11 Fund' project. Not only is the match so strong because of Rhodar's location in Beeston but the money raised through the golf day will help fund projects, among many others, like the Canopy Housing Project which helps young people get in to construction, an industry which Rhodar is already at the forefront of.”
