Rhodar Introduce New Innovations to Training

Alongside its commitment to quality Rhodar is famous for its innovative solutions to problems. This clear drive for improvement and fresh ideas within the business has now scored a notable first in the area of training.

Like all asbestos abatement companies Rhodar ensures that all of its operatives have refresher training every year.

The training covers a mixture of classroom and practical work and this year Rhodar have introduced a novel, fun and very effective way to learn, remember and refresh on the key behavioural safety messages that the management & training team wish to get across.

Rhodar have developed a Health & Safety Board Game through which it can test and refresh Health and Safety knowledge, and ensure that the key messages on the importance of quality are being delivered. At Rhodar the normal expectations of Health and Safety are being exceeded through the requirements of the new SAFEguard scheme and this is reflected in the rules of the game.

As part of the training course all participants play the ‘SAFEguard Board Game’ in which key aspects of H&S legislation, risk management, health and hazards on site, SAFEguard and all things asbestos are quizzed in a manner akin to Trivial Pursuits or Monopoly .

The board, shown below, is lively, playable and aims to make the game both fun, and drive home the SAFEguard messages to all Rhodar site staff and others who may play the game.

The game has already been a great success in training, and has also been used for awareness course and for training those staff that normally would not be included in any refresher courses.

A version of the game directed towards use by client staff and by analysts has also been developed, and it is hoped that these versions will be able to support Lexia in delivering bespoke training to clients to meet their needs.
