Rhodar in line for prestigious construction industry award

Leeds based asbestos abatement company Rhodar, has been nominated as a finalist in the Construction News ‘Specialists in Construction Awards’ which take place on Thursday 10 May 2007 at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel, London.

The awards acknowledge and reward companies which have made exceptional contributions to the construction industry and demonstrated thorough and innovative processes in their work.

Rhodar has been short listed in the Asbestos Removal category for recognition of the high risk and sensitive work they completed at Pinderfields General Hospital, Wakefield, in February this year.

The hospital is currently undergoing major developments that will see the outdated buildings either replaced or upgraded through a programme of capital investment worth £300 million. After a five-way tender, Rhodar successfully won the £600,000 contract to undertake asbestos removal, prior to phased demolition taking place.

Richard Collins, Sales and Marketing Director at Rhodar, said: “The work we did at Pinderfields General Hospital, illustrates our ability to work safely and effectively within tight deadlines in very sensitive and high-risk conditions, yards from the live, working hospital.

“So, it is a great achievement for Rhodar to be nominated as a finalist in these eminent industry awards.”

From 23 to 27 April 2007, Rhodar launched National Asbestos Awareness Week to encourage facilities and estates managers, building owners and construction workers to “wise up to asbestos” and ensure asbestos is managed properly.
